Hey Y’all!
I’m Hannah and I am the quilter behind The Back Porch Stitcher.
My quilting journey began in 2015 when I decided one day I was going to teach myself how to make a quilt. With the help of several online videos and blog posts, I made my first quilt and became immediately hooked. From there my passion has grown into something I couldn't imagine my life without.
to me the “why i started quilting”, isn’t nearly as important as the “why i keep quilting”
there is something about making a quilt from your own two hands that is just so hard to capture in words to those who have not done it before.
it’s the excitement of picking out a pattern and then finding that perfect fabric to compliment it,,, the quietness and concentration of cutting out each individual square for the quilt,,, the relaxation and repetitive motion of piecing every single block together until you finally see the accomplishment of a finished quilt top,,, the joy of putting that whole quilt together and quilting it down yourself,,, the simple process of hand stitching that quilt,,, and that final exciting moment of pulling that quilt out of the dryer and admiring the quilt wrinkles on a newly finished quilt…
the back porch stitcher grew out of that love i developed for quilting. it became a way to share with others some of these special moments and for others to get to experience some of the simple joys that a quilt can bring.
there are few better simple joys in life than taking in the quiet moments in life comforted by a quilt made with love by your own two hands.
I’m thankful to be able share that joy with others in the form of custom quilts and longarm quilting. I hope your quilts bring you as much joy as they bring me to create.
when i’m not quilting, I can usually be found on our front porch with a cup of coffee and a good book. Usually kept company by our two dogs, baby boy everett, and my husband garrett. We also love gardening, raising our chickens, and homesteading.
Its a busy and full life, and i wouldn’t have it any other way!
